Endocrine hormones acting on kidneys
ENDOCRINE HORMONES ACTING ON KIDNEY
1.Aldosterone:
★Effects on kidney:
-during hypovolumia/hypotension:Aldosterone stimulates Na-k pump which ⬆️Na+ reabsorption from DCT(distal collecting tubules), CT(collecting tubules), CD(collecting duct)of renal tubules ➕ also ⬆️CL- and H2O reabsorption along with Na+ ⬇️
↑ECF volume
⬇️
↑Blood pressure
-During Hyperkalemia:Aldosterone stimulates Na-k pump which ⬆️K+ excretion into CD(collecting duct) which ⬇️potassium level in the blood..
-During Acidosis :Aldosterone stimulates proton pump which ⬆️proton excretion in CD(collecting duct) by producing acidic urine as a result blood ph comes to normal..
Function of Aldosterone |
★Others effects of Aldosterone :
It also ⬆️reabsorption of Na+ & Cl- from sweat & salivary glands and the intestines(especially the colon) also ⬆️secretion of k+ from sweat and salivary glands..
2.ADH(Antidiuretic hormone):
★Hypovolaemia/hypotension:
Stimulates ADH release from posterior pituitary gland>> ⬆Water reabsorption from DCT and CD by making them permeable to H2O via cAMP & via V2 receptor >>produce concentrated urine >>increase blood volume>>blood volume and pressure becomes normal.
★Hypotension:
ADH ⬆️ intracellular Ca+ of vascular smooth muscle via V1A receptor by activating phospholipase C >> which causes contraction of vascular smooth muscle >> causes vasoconstriction >> ⬆️Blood pressure.
Function of ADH |
3.ANP:
★It produce by atrium in volume overload
-⬇️NaCl,H2O reabsorption from CD ➕ causes vasodilation & ↑GFR by dilatation of afferent arteriole ➕ ⬇️reninangiotensin-aldosterone system>>>>>>>>>>>>net effect is Natriuresis and Diuresis(salt and water excretion⬆️)
4.Angiotensin ll:
A powerful Na+ retaining hormone & powerful vasoconstrictor.
★During hypovolaemia Angiotensin ll causes
⬆️NaCl,H2O,HCO3 reabsorption from PCT mainly
-⬆️Aldosterone secretion
-⬆️ADH secretion & stimulates thirst center
-⬇️sensitivity of brain baro-reflex
-it causes constriction of efferent arteriole at physiological concentration to ⬆️GFR,but at high concentration it causes constriction of both afferent and efferent arterioles to reduce RBF &GFR.
Function of Angiotensin ll
5.Dopamine:
-⬆️RBF &⬇️NaCl reabsorption from PCT >> causes Natriuresis & Diuresis.
6.Parathyroid Hormone:
-⬆️Calcium reabsorption from DCT.
-⬇️Phosphate reabsorption from PCT.
7.Prostaglandin,e.g.PG E2
★Antagonizes sympathetic nervous system activity, ADH,&Angiotensin2 >> causes renal vasodilation, natriuresis, diuresis.
8.Catecholamine:
-renal vasoconstriction >⬇️GFR -stimulation of RAAS & ⬆️renin secretion -NaCl reabsorption from PCT & ALH
Okay now let's know these all together in one slide easily!!!!!
